Baja Mexican Cantina

We were there last Friday ... read some not so good review but still want to try it myself.

Baja Mexican Cantina is a welcome addition to the Greenbelt 3 dining scenery. It offers variety of Mexican food and cocktails at affordable (compare to other resto in GB) price.

Their staffs were friendly, courteous and attentive. The service was quick.

Foods:

Tortilla soup.P85 - Creamy type tortilla soup, the taste is flavorful but a bit too spicy.

Carne asada nachos.P245 - The serving was small, nacho chips were not crispy but was tolerable...

Regular Soft Taco.P75- The ground meat was tasty; but it’s just way (again) too small. I can eat 3-4 pieces of it in one sitting.
Spicy Chicken quesadillas.P145
Pescado ala vera cruz. Pan fried fish fillet with baja sauce and black beans.P265. The fish was fresh, the dish was spicy- my friend who ordered this was disappointed.

Chicken Burrito. P185 - The food description reads Shredded chicken in adobo sauce and cheese. Unlike other burrito, their burrito doesn’t have rice nor beans, which I find weird and an extra sourcream cost P15. But in fairness the taste was just ok (according to Rols).

Overall, Food prices are reasonable but the most important thing during a soft opening was not met - which is food quality. It really needs to be improved. Anyway, I would come back to this place next time; I think they deserve a second chance.

To Baja: Your official receipt state " for comments and suggestion please call ***Thank You*** " but no phone number was written :)

Shanghai Hand-pulled Noodles

My friend introduced me to a place in Retiro named Shanghai hand-pulled noodles.

Interior was quite simple. Orange wall, yellow and white ceiling.
I was trying to capture the chef who's making fresh hand-pulled noodles in the picture...Menu is presented in one laminated page (back to back). Of course, it mainly offer different kinds of noodles and dumplings :)

Dry Shanghai beef noodles. P105. Well, it's not really dry; rather, the noodle was not drowning in the soup. Beef is tender and the noodles were cooked al-dente.

The serving was actually big- it can be shared (good for 2) if/when you have small appetite.

Steamed Pork Dumplings. P55- 7 pieces pork dumplings with freshly made wraps. The dumplings are just ok.

Nice eat, especially when you live nearby the area. GO try it. :)

The Soup kitchen

I am absolutely a big fan of soup. I've been stopping by soup kitchen in Glorietta 5 for quite some time now.

Atmosphere is simple and casual. As the name suggest, it offers variety of soup to choose from + sandwiches and Salads. TIP: You can ask the server for a free taste, before you place your order - that way you'll not be regretting purchasing you don't want...

My Fave? Chili con carne soup. I like the hotness and sourness of this soup - topped with tortilla chips and cheese... Yummm! Full soup + bread = P195. An 8oz soup cost P100.

Balut...

From wiki-A balut is a fertilized duck egg with a nearly-developed embryo inside that is boiled and eaten in the shell. It is commonly sold as streetfood in the Philippines. They are common, everyday food in some other countries in Southeast Asia, such as in Laos (where it is called Khai Luk), Cambodia (Pong tea khon in Cambodian), and Vietnam (Trứng vịt lộn or Hột vịt lộn in Vietnamese). Popularly believed to be an aphrodisiac and considered a high-protein, hearty snack, balut are mostly sold by street vendors in the regions where they are available. They are often served with beer. The Filipino and Malay word balut (balot) means "wrapped" – depending on pronunciation.

I know I already twitted this but I'm still sharing it in my blog.

I didn't finish my balut because...

The duck is fully developed...

PS: Not all balut look like the one in the picture.

Would you eat this?

Hershey's Dark Chocolate Sundae - MiniStop

I'm not a big fan of ice cream but I do crave it from time to time.

Roly and I were killing some time after lunch yesterday and thought of an ice cream, so we headed to the nearest mini stop and discovered Dark Chocolate Sundae made with Hershey's.

There was a long queue in the cashier, but after a while... yeeebaaahhh!
For only Php15.00... definitely worth it :)

Zorb ball Boracay

I didn't know there's zorb ball here in Philippines until Tri tried it on her birthday. Yeap yeap, zorb ball is now here in Philippines but in Boracay Island.

Zorbing is the sport of globe riding -meaning rolling down a hill in a large inflatable globe.

There are two type of zorbing offered in Boracay, harness zorb and hydro Zorb.
Harness - where they strap you inside the ball and you'll be literally head over heels down the hill. COST: P350
Hydro - where they just let you roll down the hill freestyle; bouncing/sliding where ever inside the ball with the splash of water. COST: P380

Duration: 25-30 seconds.

Harness can have 2 pax/ball at a time while Hydro can accommodate up to 3 pax/ball at a time.

Note from Tri:
1.) Harness zorb is more intense since you have no control of the flow, while hydro is like slide inside a giant ball.
2.) If you are claustrophobic hydro zorb is not for you since they are sealing the ball before rolling it.

3.) Ride on empty stomach.

Shoot! I’m getting excited and would like to try the thrilling experience next time I’m in Boracay.

Felix

Felix restaurant interior is impressive; ambiance is elegant, cosmopolitan and fashionable.

The entrees in their menu were uniquely crafted which made it interesting.

Service- Courteous and attentive, however, our server (not sure if it was the manager or some sort) was irritating; he persistently offered their lobster basket more than 3 times.

Bread and butter came in as a gratis as we waited for  our order.

Food presentation/plating were great( well you can prolly see it in the pictures); But  I honestly didn't liked the taste...

Dyesebel P400.00. Luscious baked John Dory stuffed with shrimp and taro in coconut, served with whit rice

Martha.P595.00 -Slow roasted salmon with skin crackling, spinach and mushrooms in leek sauce, served with potato puree.

Sebastian. P895.00 -Pan fried sea Chilean sea bass with lump crabmeat, served with mixed grains and vegetable risotto
... I don't particularly think it was worth the price.

PS: I still have few pix left in my camera but I can't seem to find the reader,so... I might just edit this post next time.
