There's a new resto in our block, it is called Chariya's Thai kitchen... Well, the same place where the old soms noodle house is located, but was renovated into an open air dining place. The place is small yet clean, style is not classy, simple yet inexpensive.
Ohhhh.. Chariya is indeed a person, she's a Thai and she or her brother cooks their food. Curiously I asked her if it is similar to SOMS... according to her the owner of SOMS is her cousin but their food have differences. Anyway we've chanced to take her photos, here the very accomodating Chariya:
Most of the thai restaurant served Thai ice tea, yeah they also have that here for P35... but they also have Thai green tea for P50 which for me is fantastic, personally I can compare it with starbucks green tea frap...
Crabmeat fried rice P130. I love tasty fried rice and these meet my expectations, I can eat this without ordering any other meal. The serving is huge, It is good for 3 to 4 pax(well for my built i guess) :p
Tom Yam shrimp P140, serving is good for 2; with 4 pieces fresh shrimps, it taste good even without the usual coconut milk but it could have been better if there's a mushroom on it...
Chicken kaprow P140. Well, kaprow mean stir fried with basil. The chicken is tender the taste has a hint of hotness which is simply delicious maybe because of the bell pepper and basil.
For dessert we had Thai halo halo. P60. Ingredients include cocomilk, jackfruit, water chestnut and a green jelly stuff (i'm not really sure what was it). It was made the way I like it, colorful and not too sweet :D
They also have salad, curries, grills, noodles and other thai cuisines in their menu list.
In my opinion, Chariya's Thai kitchen has a lot to offer... It'll soon be a fuzz...

Spices Restaurant, The Peninsula Manila

"The cuisine of seven Asian countries - India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, China and the Philippines - is on offer at Spices, and the interiors also reflect the influences of these varied cultures. The restaurant is divided into two areas: the more "formal" main dining area and the glass-enclosed pavilion, with a relaxing view of the outdoor pool and garden. Asian objets d'art, tempera paintings by Filipino expressionist master Ang Kiukok, and a tinkling marble fountain add to its charm." - from Manila Peninsula site
Spices simply is exquisite!!! Exotic lovely decors , eclectic menu and delicious food, superb service, a relaxing ambiance...
We ordered for 3 different cuisine... and all is good.

Dusit Thani
One of the oldest running establishments in Glorietta mall is a Thai restaurant
called Dusit Thani. The restaurant is old, small and unpretentious; they have small wooden tables, as for my estimate the place can only accommodate 20 pax at a time or maybe less; there are lots of foreigners the time I last dine here...
What we ordered:
Chicken soup with mushroom lemon grass and Cocomilk
Thai milk tea - around P50/glass
In this pix you can see me taking pix of those milk teas.. mwahaha!
Anyway those two glasses are both milk tea; freshly served(right) the other was mixed already... satisfying!!!

Soms noodle house
Last night after watching a heavy (in violence, in length and in symbolism) but good movie “Blood Diamond “ with friends, we headed straight to Soms for dinner.
SOMS may not seem remarkable exteriorly but the place is clean and spacious on the inside and yeah the food was so DELECTABLE... I swear!
Here’s what we ordered:
Guzzle-cious Tom Yam soup,
Lip-smacking Chicken in red curry,
Luscious beef in red curry
Mouth watering kangkong with shrimp
plus the Thai milk tea.
If you want to eat authentic Thai food that provide good value for money try SOMS noodle house along Reposo St. corner Milagros St. Makati city.
