Bagoong (Shrimp paste) is a common condiment in the Philippines; taste varies depends on how it's cook but is usually salty - it can be addictive, however the smell can be extremely repulsive. It is a well known ingredients in Filipino cuisine- Kare-kare... pinakbet... Mannga't bagoong... Pork binagoongan...
Anyway we recently dined in a place named bagoong club, it is one hidden restaurant somwhere in Tomas Morato. The menu has a lot of "with" bagoong dishes but generally the place offers Filipino flares.
The ambiance is very Filipino - located inside a big Filipino inspired house with wooden chairs and table, capiz window and Filipiniana paintings off the walls. Paper place mat with few trivias about bagoong...

Bicol Express na Kamto- P240. Beef meat in cocout milk- tasty and spicy.

We actually ordered a lot of good food but were hungry hungry....Forgot to take those pictures... sorry!
Anywoo... The dishes that we ordered were delicious and "hello" cholesterol...lol! Balikbayan will surely love this place ;-)

OMG! It's good that I've just taken my lunch before reading this post. Or else I'm now mouthwatered to death! Pero super takam pa rin ako. Resto's name is catchy just like Kanin Club. I'll hit this in my next vacation. =)

i ate there when i visited manila last xmas! it was yummy! their lechon kawali binagoongan was a killer. literally. hahaha!
