Cibo

CIBO has been around for quite some time now. Well for those of you who don't know cibo is equivalent to food in Italian...

There are several branches here in Metro Manila I've tried 4 branches namely Shang, Rockwell, Glorietta and their latest addition Greenbelt 5, so far their food, service and servings are consistent. I like their stylish decor especially the one in greenbelt 5, the orange wall tickles my appetite...

Spinaci Zola. P218. - It is one of their anti-pasti (starter). Fresh crispy bruschetta dipped in spinach and gorgonzola mixture. I just lurve it, actually one of the reasons why I keep coming back here....

They have a wide selection of pastas which are cooked al dente... their main course- so far I’ve only tried 3 dishes their Ossobucco Gremolata. P403.00, Filetto di Pesce.P383.00 and their lamb something… unfortunately I’m displeased with all 3, maybe just not my taste…

Old uniform...

Found this old uniform in my memorabilia box, I wore this during our last school days in UST. If I remember it right, it was baccalaureate mass, almost 8++ years ago. Yuh, just like nurses and doctors are uniform is all white except for the shoes...

Goshhhhh!!! It seems like yesterday- Funny how time flies so fast.... Seeing this make me reminisce those days... Yuh, I do miss university days... It was real fun, I learned, I stumbled, I cried, I laughed....

I do miss a lot of people and places...

Hope everyone is doing great from my block mates to my org mates...

Oh, lest you're wondering about my course, it was BS mathematics major in CS.

Izakaya Nihonbashitei

In my previous post, I mentioned that Nihonbashitei has two divisions, last time I dined at one of their tepan room which could be found in their 2nd floor... now, on their 1st level which is the ala carte style dining...

We were welcomed by the servers (almost forming a line) as we entered the room... Place is cozy, dining area is setup in the middle and is typical with a huge sushi bar on the side and numbers of cleared-glass doors private rooms on the other side.

FOOD...

Miso soup. P55. - Unlike other Japanese resto, their miso soup serving is big, it can served 2 pax, it is served hot of course, but blame it on my age, but I can't remember if this is the miso soup which has a missing tofu on it or something else.... sorry!

Asupara Bacon.P45/stick- A stick contains four roll of asparagus wrapped in bacon, taste really good and for 45 bucks it is really cheap, right?
Ebi tempura. P230. Their version of tempura is huge, 3 pieces and also taste great...
Salmon Sashimi.P220 - Gawd this is best salmon sashimi I've tasted so far. Six pieces sliced salmon- It is fat, it is fresh,it is yummy... If not for the price, I think I can eat 5 orders of this... Oh, the server told us that the salmon was imported here from Japan.

Fely J's Kitchen

Less than a month ago, I together with Arvic and Cza chance upon Fely J's kitchen in Greenbelt 5; Fely J's is a restaurant that specializes in Pinoy cuisine specifically that of Pampanga's.

Ambiance is simple and relaxed; there are numbers of old photograph/paintings on the
wall which added a touch of sentimentality to the place.

The menu might appear a little typical for Filipino's but you'll know  the difference when you taste it....

To start it off,  complimentary prawn cracker was served while we wait for our meal....

As suggested by their server, here's what we ordered:

Dilis rice - The saltiness of anchovies(dilis) compliments well with white rice; If there's one thing not to be miss here is this crispy dilis-cious rice...really!

Fely J's Tilapia in sweet plum.P385- Thinking of a description of this dish makes my mouth water; the dish has a distinct yummy fragrance, in Filipino lingo "amoy palang ulam na"- The smell is so appetizing plus the not to sweet and not to sour taste of  fish,it is simply delectable.

KKK.P550- KKK stand for kare kare klab, according to them this is their star dish- with tripe, oxtail and veggies stewed in peanut sauce and served with sauteed bagoong.   Well, I don't really find something distinctive in their kare-kare, for me it taste normal, if I can remember correctly a little bland....
Overall, we had a satisfying dinner @ Fely J's and I am recommending this resto to those who craved for delicious pinoy food.

Oh did I mention that their ice tea is remarkable... There!!!

An update...

I know, I haven't been posting an entry for more than a week now…
Nope I haven't really that busy busy, it's just that I've been feeling lazy to write; I would like to blame it to the weather but if truth be told it’s really just me. ;-D.

Well, I’ve been eating a lot lately which I think is not new to everyone. Yeah, I owe you guys a lot of entries about my foodie trips…

Oh, I tell you what, I’ve been enjoying cooking recently but hating the after cooking task – you know washing dishes and stuff; I’ve been preparing and bringing food for lunch lately ... So far the pork steak and the French onion soup is not below par … Woohoo! It’s new and I’m proud!

Have a nice Friday everyone! Hopefully the Brazilian prophecy about the earthquake here isn’t true.

Yet another fare hike...

GEEESSSSSSSHHH!!! I have strong adverse and tremendous feeling about fare hike, I blame it to the gasoline prices rising daily.

Attention fellow Philippine commuters:

The fare increase will take effect tomorrow or this Friday.

Here’s the breakdown of the minimum fare:

  • Jeepney - from P8.00 to P8.50
  • Ordinary bus - from P9.00 to P10.00
  • Air-conditioned bus - from P11.50 to P12.50
  • Taxi - additional P10 to the fare (not added to flag down rate to reduce the cost of calibration for taxi owners

Source: Philippine daily Inquirer & Calvin

./edit 07102008

The transport fare increase that’s suppose to happen today or Friday is not going to take place all at the same time. Here’s the final transport fare increase and the schedule when it’s going to be implemented.

Friday (July 11)

  • Ordinary bus - P10
  • Air-conditioned - P12 (not P12.50)

Monday (July 14)

  • Jeepney - P8.50

For taxis, the 10 pesos additional will be implemented July 25 the earliest and as long as they have the notice sticker on their car.

Don’t get fooled. Save those few pesos.

Guava

Before, I've been hearing a lot of rave about this small restaurant in Serendra named Guava.

Guava is a small restaurant that serves Filipino cuisine with a twist... Service was just so-so...

We ordered for Salmon sinigang of guava for P450, sinigang is a "comfort food" for most pinoy but honestly I don't find their sinigang comforting at all... Yes it is good to share but I am disappointed.

To be fair, I haven't tried their other dish yet...

Cafe Juanita

Cafe Juanita is a highly wrought restaurant somewhere in Kapitolyo; interiors were crammed with antique artifacts which were also for sale.

Menu was extensive and price of food were reasonable; a meal would cost around 150 to 400 and is good for sharing... Service was just ok.

Here's our order, from left:

Yang chow fried rice.P140. - I so love these tasty fried rice!

Pinoy ratotoy. P149.Inspired by French ratatouille- a mixture of tomato and fried eggplant. I honestly didn't like these...

Crispy pork binagoongan.P242. Is a crispy fried belly with shrimp paste - I was expecting this to be a little saucy like the usual binagoongan meal here but it wasn't. Literally, the shrimp paste was on top of the pork belly.

And the last one(in the pix), really stood up, uhmmmm... but I forgot its title, it taste like our very own danggit,( a fried salty thinly cut fish)- It was actually in their appetizer list but in my point of view it is best with rice....

Well, the place was really cozy and quaint, I shall return to this place!!!

Swagat Indian cuisine

I am a real fan of spicy foods... another interesting authentic Indian restaurant in Makati area. Swagat means “welcome” in Hindi. The place is just small; more of a canteeny type but is clean. Dining here will give you a touch of Indian feel, from its Indian inspired interior to its music, from its bollywood movie playing on their flat screen, to its service...

Server are dressed like Indians.

..and of course to its delectable food...
Roghan Josh (Left) - Goat meat cooked with cream and butter and flavored Indian spices. P180.
Chicken Tikka Masala (right)- Not in their Menu but can be requested. Chicken marinated in yogurt and spices and then served in a tomato cream sauce. P225.
Roti (at the back).

They have extensive menu; food serving is good for sharing; and is served fresh from the kitchen. Per meal would cost roughly 150-200++.

It is worth trying....
