Andanita Taj of Tagaytay

Andanita Taj of Tagaytay can be found in Tagaytay ridge and is far from crowded area of Tagaytay, if I can remember correctly it is nearing Batangas post already. Of course we heard and read positive reviews before going here.

Exteriorly the place looks like a little that of a Persian castle. Inside there's a feel of mixed culture of Indian, Thai and Persians because of their canny ornaments; it has a balcony that offers a great view overlooking scenery of taal lake and the famous taal volcano.

The foods were just so-so, not authentic as we all thought. But hey, if you want something different that usual you might want to try dining here- it is the only Indian- Mediterranean resto in Tagaytay, well that is based on my knowledge. And there’s a live acoustic band playing the night we dine here…

We ordered for:

Chicken Biryani (left).P 360
Serving is good for 3-4 pax depending on appetite. The lentils (rice) is a bit dry, the meat is dry as well. ./edited. It's not Lentils but Basmati rice according to Patricia.
Roti Chanai (Right).P130-
The curry dip of Roti Chanai is a bit bland, not creamy. Some part of the bread is not chewy.

Vegetable curry(left)- P260.
The curry itself is creamy and tasty but the veggies are a little overcooked.
Chicken Tikka Masala(right).P340
Taste is just ok not spicy not bland, but the sauce is a little too thin.

And lastly their indian style mutton kebab. P320.
Again, dryness is reigning...

Much better if they made special sauce for this.

I do love spicy food; cuisines with spices amazed me... But honestly Taj of Tagaytay did not impress me or should say us.

That's All!

If you're looking for Med food, on the Greek side naman, try out Manos tavern. I like their Lamb Shawarmas and it's reasonably priced.

I have visited TAJ numerous times always on the way to our Batangas hometown and I must say along with many of my friends who are TAJ regulars, their food is one of the best. First, I would like to correct some inaccuracies in your blog, the rice for the Chicken Biryani that you ordered is not a lentil but Basmati rice grown in North India and some parts of Pakistan. Basmati rice is entirely different from lentil and you could have ordered different lentil dishes during your visit there like yellow/black or mixed dal or better yet their authentic lentil soup. Second, basmati rice is a free flowing grain (meaning dry normally) when cooked and shouldn’t be moist or sticky otherwise it’s just like a normal local rice.
Third, Chicken Tikka doesn’t have any sauce-it’s a dry tandoor cooked boneless chicken fillet normally dipped in green chutney which Taj perfectly makes. The one with the sauce is the Chicken Tikka Masala. Their Chicken Tikka is PHP240 not PHP340.
When visiting Indian restaurants, you can always make special requests as all Indians would always like to treat customers and friends alike like family. You can order for additional sauce or make it more spicy. You could have tried their Chicken Jalfrezi and Rogan Josh which are wonderfully tasting dishes.
Been visiting Indian cities for four years already and I know an authentic Indian cuisine from something that is not.
try visiting ANTON's awesome planet feature on TAJ.

@Patricia- My Bad, for basmati rice. Yeah we did order for chicken tikka masala and not chicken tikka. I will edit this post with the correct one... Thanks to you! :)
Of course we did read some review before going there and it include OAP’s blog that’s why we went all the way there… but me and my friends is a bit disappointed with the food in Taj or maybe we are comparing it to other Indian restos .
