Corner Tree Cafe

If you are looking for a meatless meal, I would highly recommend Corner tree cafe along Jupiter St. Makati - Corner tree cafe has a homey and semi-fine dining feel with comfy healthy charm in it; it has an extensive menu of appetizers, soup, salad and main dishes such as burgers, pasta and rice.

I've chanced upon this resto 2 months ago with Roly, so forgive me if I can't remember some detailed information regarding our meal.... eniweiz...

Spinach & Pechay Chowder. P95.00/cup
Like any other soup, it is comforting, it taste like pureed leaf, well, a little bland for my taste but salt and pepper did the works.

North African Vegetable Stew.P260.00
A rich flavourful stew infused with saffron & Moroccan spices served over couscous, and topped with toasted almonds & fresh coriander.

Served with our spicy harissa, extra sauce and organic greens on the side
Here's another meal which the name I can't remember, I think this meal is part of their monthly specials... anyone?
It looks like meat balls but it is purely vegetable (tofu and nuts) balls on top of brown rice. Cost around P250-300.00

Ohh, they also served Mojito which I think uses muscavado sugar which I think is healthy(?). lol!
Hmmm... I shall be back soon and shall feed P with veggies.

I think this should be one of the top vegetarian restaurant in Metro Manila...

Flu Vaccine

Flu shot is said to be the best way to prevent the flu, I had my shot last July but it seemed not to work for me. YEAP, I am sick with a mild flu and I hate it… ARGGGGHHH!!! Throat hurts, body ache, fatigue is just reigning all over me... I can’t clearly breathe…

On a positive note it's not H1N1 but still... :(

This is the not so recent shot of my flu vaccine... Yes, I'm afraid of needles :(

Anyway, got this from wiki: The influenza vaccine is an annual vaccine to protect against the highly variable influenza virus[1]. Each injected seasonal influenza vaccine contains three influenza viruses: one A (H3N2) virus, one regular seasonal A (H1N1) virus (not the 2009 pandemic H1N1 virus), and one B virus. Whilst I was browsing trough my photo album...
I found this ...

Playing with Mao's curly wig; photo by Tere

When I was a kid I used to dream/pray of having curly hair instead of having a super straight shiny hair, Good thing Papa God knew which prayer to grant... *wink*

Cielo Salon

I will be a year older and hopefully a year wiser on Saturday... Geesshh... I'm waving goodbye to the 20's... OH NO! - Anyway I'm not putting much drama =)

I've got my 1st birthday present last friday from Cielo - A free hair Spa treatment for my birthday month.... Weee! I know, I know I look like an alien on the first picture... :D And I'm with Rommel (No, he's not my stylist) on the 2nd pix -he just get his hair chopped ;-).

Like any other salon, Cielo offers haircut, perm, rebonding, waxing, nail service and etc; it is the only salon here with WiFi access- how is that?

We've got to meet and have a little chitchat with Cielo (the owner). She told us that soon it'll be a beauty stop which include dental cosmetic and likes.... Lets see...

A chop would cost prolly around P500 to 1000++ - The price may appear a little pricey, but the for quality of service I think it's worth a visit/revisit.

Oh do you want to give me a present? really???? Send it to my office... Lolz! btw late gift is accepted. Cheers!

Dental and orthodontic recommendation

Teeth play a vital role in our life, it is use for chewing, biting, ripping, pronouncing words correctly and lastly it gives us confidence.

The less care we give to our teeth, the faster it gets worse...

White teeth are not equal to healthy teeth but whiter teeth make us more attractive and appealing...Really!

Enough lectures! Peoples have been asking me for dental and orthodontic recommendation lately... so here I am recommending a very good dentist.

Personally, I’ve got a great service from Dr. Glenn when I was on bleaching treatment :)

Call him and make an appointment, do mention that you are a friend of mine… He can possibly give you discount/ good deal.

Crazier than usual

The past month has been a bit overwhelming for me, for work load though. The days have been really crazier than usual; I haven’t really got into serious shopping for Christmas since I’ve been working and working and working even on weekends. And right now I've been awake and been working for 18 hours now....

I should have done an blog entry for a very dear friends who will be missed because he left us for money and he hasn't even got the nerve for his last blood ( ehemm.. Mic yoohoo!). hope you'll enjoy your bag of golds...Hmpf! Kidding aside, I will definitely miss my Kuya Mikeee, goody goody best beans... but I hope you stay cool as always... alwayssssssss

And to our a dear friend Christie who is now on her last day working for safeway ... hope you stay happy and enjoy you bag of golds as well... I hate you for going too soon but I will always love you... keep in touch gurl, I will miss you :(

Anyway, anyway, anyway.... Enough for the drama!

Finally, I was able to get my long overdue hair chopped @ Piandre last Tues. – Stress reliever? You can call it that ….

Punch Bag Aero

Last night was my 2nd attempt to attend Punch bag aero. Yes, yes, I did mentioned attempt because like my 1st attempt which was about 1.5 years ago I wasn't able to finish the class. After about 10 minutes of punching and kicking, I found myself drenched in sweat and gasping for air... so there I walked out from the class. Ok, I have my reasons for walking out, 1st- I have not been boxing for several months now, 2nd -I have been showing up to gym for like once a week or sometimes once a month and not really done serious work-out since laziness..., and lastly I felt like blocking-out that time, so there with those reasons I’m forgiven. Right?

Anyway Punch bag aero is a cardio workout that uses heavy punching bags which were hung from the ceiling. An aerobics exercise mainly uses punch and kick technique to build endurance, and keep your muscle tone and firm. It is a good way to burn serious calories and is a great way to wash off tensions and aggressions. Seriously!

I will condition my body next month and I shall try it again soon; I’ll prolly finish a class by then ; p

Punch Bag Aero is offered at red corner - see you there ;p.

Iyengar yoga Manila

So yeah, last Wednesday I did attend yoga class, I chose Iyengar yoga over yoga Manila since the shala is near, one block away from our office.
Iyengar yoga is a form of hatha yoga that uses props such as belts, bags,chairs, blanket and etc. The poses are much challenging than bikram yoga, maybe because bikram focuses on a series of 26 postures while in iyengar is more on experimentation, where you can explore yoga more… but indeed the poses here are held in longer time and requires more concentration. Yeah I did do the headstand on my 1st session =)

Personally, I liked bikram more than Iyengar since I wanted the sweaty after feel or perhaps the room was just too cold and is lit or I was too sleepy last Wednesday. I'll prolly try it again next time but I also have to try yoga manila.

Iyengar Yoga Center Manila is located at 21/F LKG Tower, Ayala Ave.
For more inquiries visit Iyengar yoga Manila site.

More about Iyengar yoga from wiki.

Clean teeth = good heart

I sometimes can't understand why some people have fear or is anxious on seeing dentist, uhhmmm well I mean... I'd rather see the dentist than to loose my teeth. Right? Right?
And beside Oral hygiene is important... how about this… did you know that healthy teeth can prevent heart attack? Seriously!

Anyway I have my picture taken inside Dr. JV Jaurigue clinic just few hours ago right after my root canal 2nd session. Dr. Jaurigue is the one who took the pix ;-) - One of the coolest and good dentists I've met/known. Soooo... Dr. Jaurigue if you are reading this, I think I deserve a free/discounted service ...Kidding(half meant ;-))!

Root canal procedure

Yesterday after my oral prophylaxis...The dentist advised that my tooth need to undergo root canal procedure, so I abruptly decided to have the procedure outright... perhaps for peace of mind and yeah, yeah to save to save my tooth. I was a little anxious since I’ve been hearing a lot stories about the pain of having it, but the most terrifying part was when the doctor mentioned that anesthesia is no longer needed… HWAAAT, drilling the tooth without anesthetic is freaking OUCH!!! Anyway, anyway, anyway I had my 1st ever root canal procedure yesterday and since I am an experienced patient now - I can absolutely say that it is pain free. Hakuna matata!

X.S.: The picture in this entry is actually mine ..haha!

Smashbox O-glow

Smashbox O-glow is a first intuitive blush that doesn’t come in powder or cream but rather a gel. The gel comes is clear/transparent that give everyone a natural gorgeous glow; it reacts with skin chemistry to turn your cheek the exact color you blush. It comes with Goji berry-C complex that creates the microcirculatory effect which changes the color of the product.

I've tested this product but wanting to buy 1, this product will surely be included in my kikay kit soon.

It is available in all beauty bar outlet here in Manila @ P1250.

Shiatsu Massage & Relaksasi

Since my body is feeling restless yesterday from my sickness (slight fever), and since there is a newly open Relaksasi branch in the columns, and since it is just near/across our workplace... I went there yesterday and had my much needed relieving shiatsu massage.

Shiatsu massage treats common psychological and physical complaints by pressing pressure points. Proponents believe it alleviates disorders such as depression, anxiety, nausea, stiffness, headaches, arthritis, cramps, or pulled muscles. This Japanese equivalent of the Chinese method of acupressure comes from the Japanese words "shi" and "atsu," meaning "finger pressure."(www.wisegeek.com)

Benefits of Shiatsu Massage from (www.about.com)

  • Deep muscle and tissue relaxation
  • Stress reduction and management
  • Releases toxins from the body
  • Dis-ease preventative
  • Increased flexibility
  • Improved blood circulations
  • Reduces blood pressure
  • Reduces mental anxieties
  • Balances ki (chi)
  • Calms nervousness
  • Increases mental and spiritual awareness
  • It feels good!

Anyway back to Relaksasi columns: The place is just small but pretty much relaxing, is clean and in order. Therapist is good or perhaps I got the right one. Price is so-so, a Shiatsu massage cost me P450 plus 20% off. They offer other service such as Swedish, Shiatsu, combination, hilot and other traditional holistic therapies, body scrub and wrap rituals, hand & foot pampering, facials and other contemporary therapies such as stone and cellulite massage and etc. Ooooh, I think they cannot accommodate groupies, I mean the last time we inquire there are only 3 massage therapist available so we sought for other place that can accommodate 5 of us all at the same time.

Wensha Spa

Wensha Spa in QC is one of my favorite places here in Metro; I love the quality of the massage they offer, I've been going to this SPA like 5+ years now. Anyway last Wednesday my colleague and I went SPA tripping and decided to try the newest addition of Wensha SPA in Pasay. I am amazed by how cozy it look; Place is huge, clean and relaxing, uhmmm yeah it is way better and way nicer than the one in Timog.

For P580 you have access to their wet floor (hot and cold Jacuzzi, sauna, steam bath and shower because it has division and doors), the superb massage (choice of Swedish, Shiatsu or combination) and food (Shabu-Shabu or buffet; depending on the day) and bottomless drink (Ice tea or orange juice)

Wensha SPA is a Korean spa that offers a lot of treatments including foot and body massages, aromatherapy, manicure/pedicure and facials. It is located in Pasay, Roxas blvd (previous boom na boom) and is open 24 hours.

I simply heart the Wensha pasay!

Warts

I just underwent electrocautery with enla (cream anesthesia) procedure for my face and neck in Makati med yesterday. I then had unnoticeable warts, yes, yes I did mentioned “unnoticeable” but I had it removed even though dermatologist said that it’s ok because mine is fine and too small, but for vanity and peace of mind sake I wanted it out… after all warts is still freaking warts right? It is viral; it grows, multiplies and is contagious when in contact with the skin of another. Nope the procedure is not painful maybe because of enla but I’m feeling less beautiful now because of the black dots…but I’m ok.

Grrrrr! I wonder where I got those from.

Migraine

Last night, I was struggling to be freed from migraine once again. Like before there seems to be no remedy but the so called quality sleep (more than 8 hours) and yeah I did throw (all the food I took for the day) and I hate the feeling.. ggrrrrr,

Worst is that I have to travel very weakly from office to home. Mic and Cat- So much thanks for the company, I really really appreciate it; Hugs for the two of you.

From wiki migraine is a neurological disease best known for severe headaches that are its most salient symptom.

A migraine trigger is any factor that, on exposure or withdrawal, leads to the development of an acute migraine headache. Triggers may be categorized as behavioral, environmental, infectious, dietary, chemical, or hormonal.

According to the National Library of Medicine's Medical Encyclopedia, Migraine attacks may be triggered by:

* Allergic reactions

* Bright lights, loud noises, and certain odors or perfumes

* Physical or emotional stress

* Changes in sleep patterns

* Smoking or exposure to smoke

* Skipping meals

* Alcohol or caffeine

* Menstrual cycle fluctuations, birth control pills

* Tension headaches

* Foods containing tyramine (red wine, aged cheese, smoked fish, chicken livers, figs, and some beans), monosodium glutamate (MSG), or nitrates (like bacon, hot dogs, and salami)

* Other foods such as chocolate, nuts, peanut butter, avocado, banana, citrus, onions, dairy products, and fermented or pickled food

Hwaaattt???? Those mouth watering food?? Sniff sniff sniff… anyway I have an appointment with neurologist on Monday.
